School Safety

Charter School Safety Team:

Additional locks placed on gates.
Lockdown and fire drills practiced monthly with a variety of scenarios.
All students/lunch staff practice and are knowledgeable about what to do during recess and lunch if there was a lockdown.
Points of entry have been reduced during school hours.
Added Security to entry front doors.
Additional outside speakers installed for clear communication.
Building locations are easily visible for law enforcement to locate and identify.
School-wide active shooter training occurs with staff yearly.
Several SSS (School Safety Security) team members attend Emergency trainings put on by FEMA.

Preschool Principal | Security Team Coordinator

My name is Ciara Bentley and I am the principal for Desert Heights Preschool. I have always had a passion for working with children. Being able to make a difference in a child’s life is a gift to any educator . I am a big believer of positive discipline and building relationships with every child.

Preparatory Academy Safety Team:

Continue to practice lockdown and fire drills with staff and students.
All students/lunch staff practice and are knowledgeable about what to do during recess and lunch in the event of a lockdown.
Host student assemblies to educate students and staff.
Extra staff member has been added for lunches and help with monitoring campus during heavy hours.
Added security to entry front doors
Additional outside speakers installed for clear communication
School-wide active shooter training occurs with staff yearly.
Security Director attends Glendale District training to review school wide practices when offered.
A relocation/evacuation plan and route for staff and students has been prepared.
Continue active shooter training.
Continue student training to be a part of the community and speak up.
